This is a kinda of "reskin" of the other one I did (see below). Normally don't like to rehash, but I wanted to see if I could make a rage-shift Twilight [Reference]
. Result: not to bad. Unsure how usable it would be if animated, but nonetheless. Was done as I had an idea for something I want to work on, but need to know what is possible before jumping in. Opinions are welcome and encouraged.
I love to improve and get the most from seeing things through the eyes of others.
God this little guy is cute.
Anyways, only animating changes I did was adding a bit more movement to the wings and small change to the head movement. Everything else was just model, color and particle changes. And some heavy photoshopping in post to get the colors to look awesome.
This one is slightly bigger then the other because, for some reason, dropping it to the same size really messed with the colors and quality. This is the best I could do without making the entire thing all pixelated.
Based off this, but with fire and stuff:
Technical stuff, for those that usually are curious how I do things:
The mane and tail were given transparent textures so they would disappear. The particle effects for the mane and tail are from Dota (from dire_fx.pcf, effect is called fire_barracks). It was modified to have a push to the left and shrunk down. The portion of the effect for the mane that controlled the brightness was heavily modified to have a drastically higher spawn rate to make it smoother. The fire on the ground is the same effect, just only set to emit for 0.5 seconds. The embers from such, as well as all the other particles, were built from scratch myself in SFM.
The eyes had the vmt modified from a type of "eyes" to "VertexLitGeneric" and had the line of "$selfillum 1" added so it ignored lighting. The camera bloom was increased to give them a stronger glow. I didn't have the eyes glow stronger when the fire goes off like the last one as it effected the fire and other lights this time. Wouldn't have had the same effect.
