Late Night Studying [SFM] by argodaemon Late Night Studying [SFM] by argodaemon
Wanted to make another picture, so walla.

Entire scene was made from scratch; built in the empty dark_room map. You can download the SFM scene here: [link]
This is NOT a map download, but the actual SFM file. There may arrise issues if you do not have certain games loaded. Resources used include TF2, HL2, CounterStrike and DearEsther.

I also have it available in 3840x2160 if anyone wants. Didn't upload it as it was over 30mb. :|

Came here from your 'Find a Way [SFM]' vid on youtube.

You caught my eye because your work really overlaps with some of the stuff I'd like to do and you are very nice to leave a message offering help to anyone.
Question: when you say this scene was made from scratch you mean you started with an XYZ axis and manually inserted everything (from what I can see here a floor, windows and bookcases to create the walls) I imagine the old Base Editor from City of Heroes. Is that the basic idea, an over simplification or did you have to create polygons from scratch for this?

Everything in the picture is a model that was already in Source (the walls are basically a crapload of outhouses... mind the pun). I leave any custom models as a last resort due to the time needed. Hammer (the Source map editor) would have way more power, but I like the flexibility in this. With a little creativity, you can throw together some interesting maps.

Awesome. Not saying it sounds easy, but it sounds doable. I'm finding fan-ficiton doesn't hit as big an audience so I'm thinking maybe adding SFM frames to turn it into a comic would help.

I actually ran across it just before seeing this comment. ^^ Nice! Glad you got it working. I should save a copy of the expanded room from my last video. I think it could come in use to people.

My SFM can't export your Scene because when try render a poster sometime it crash.

I was unsure how well it would work just sharing the file. Try rendering as just an image and not a poster. I never can really tell a "huge" difference and poster don't render bloom right anyways.

I wish more people would be as generous as you, uploading the SFM file as a whole. I always wanted to see how they do these kind of lighting and stuff. It's just gorgeous.

Though since you made the scene from scratch it will most likely and up as a huge purple-black chequered mess, but still, thank you. :thanks:

Absolutely fantastic!

The window's lightning is really cool, and the fact that everything was made from scratch makes it even better, to the favorites, just lovable picture.

The map itself is just a big empty checkered room devoid of light. Everything in the shot was a model I added in manually, including the walls. Unsure how this will work on a different machine, but I added a download link in the description for this SFM scene. It does use a mix of resources from TF2, CounterStrike, HL2 and DearEsther(<-only for a couple books). To also help, I renamed most the models in the editor to help show what they are doing. Feel free to use, expand or whatnot.

I have all of those games but I use Garry's Mod instead of Source Film Maker. So it probably won't be possible, but I can at least get some inspiration from it. Thanks!
